I love trunk shows! What a great opportunity to see some wonderful works of art. I think that when a quilt is put together just right it can truly be a work of art.
Currently at Elaine’s Quilt Block they are having a trunk show featuring quilts made from the book “Simply Fat Quarters” by Its Sew Emma. The book has beautiful quilts that are made almost entirely from fat quarters. The only yardage you buy is your background and binding.
I was fortunate enough to get the privilege to make some of these quilts. It was so hard to choose which ones I wanted to make because all the quilts in the book are amazing!
This one is called Carousel in the book. This quilt was the last I made so I had a timeline on it. By the time I got it done I wanted it out of my house! But when I got it back from the quilter I feel in love. This was my first time working with Kaffe Fasset fabrics but it won’t be my last. I love the way the colors just pop off the black. My favorite of this quilt is the binding. I love how bold and bright it is.
This one is Zap. And what a fitting name. The bright fabrics seem to give you a little zap. This was such an easy quilt to make. It’s a perfect summer quilt.
This next one is my favorite. It’s called marbles in the book. I went a completely different way than the quilt that was shown in the book. The one in the book was made from snoopy and I wanted something not so juvenile. This was the first quilt that I made out of Asian fabrics. (There was a lot of first for me.) I love how symmetrical it turned out. It’s just gorgeous!
These are only a small sampling of the trunk show quilts. Stop to see them and the book. There are kits available for all the quilts shown.
