Earlier this month my husbands step dad had a birthday. At the last possible second I decided that I wanted to make him a quilt. Jim and Carolyn (step dad in law and mom in law) are always so willing to help me and the hubby out. She takes my kids without hesitation every time I ask her. And recently we were having car troubles. Our car broke down. It sucked. But they let us borrow one of theirs while we assessed the situation and figured what we were going to do. Family is very important to me and I wanted to show Grandpa Jim, as my kiddos call him, how much we love and appreciate him.
As many of you know i made a goal to try and start using up my stash and I stuck with that goal with this quilt. The entire top came from my stash. I only had to purchase the back and binding.
I used a Cluck Cluck Sew pattern called Juice Boxes. I love Cluck Cluck Sew patterns. But I will talk about her more on another post.
I did the back a solid color so that we could trace all the grandkids hand prints on the back. My mom does this when my brothers go on missions. So that when they are having a bad day they can wrap themselves up and get a group hug. Some of the grandkids were missing the night of the party so we didn’t get all the hand prints but we will.
I had made the quilt label on this because I was pressed for time. But I actually really love the way it turned out!
Jim loved his quilt. He even teared up a little. It made me feel really good that he loved it so much!
