I have been wanting to make labels for my quilts since I started quilting but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to go about it. I had seen lots of different ones, but none that I loved. So I decided to add the things that I liked and come up with my own thing.
I think they turned out adorable and I love that they have some color in them. But, I think even just black and white they would still be cute!
This first thing I did was make a simple design on my computer. The first set I made I forgot to name the quilt. (duh!) But my second set I remembered.
Once I had designed them I printed them out. This transfer paper is expensive so I did 8 on each sheet. You can make them as big or as small as you want.

I picked it because it was the best deal.
And pressed them onto some muslin.
I cut the muslin out 1/4″ to 1/2″ bigger than the label.
Then I stitched around the label with an 1/8″ seam to keep it in place. With wear and washing fussible stuff can start to peel off. So this stitch is to assure it stays on the muslin.
At this point with the first set I actually turned it under and pressed before I did the stay stitch. Once you do that you can hand stitch them onto your quilt.

And then my top and bottom.
Then I pressed the sides under so we didn’t have raw edges showing.
I decided to put a cute decorative stitch on this one. I did little flowers like the ones on the line.
