As some of you may know I am slightly obsessed with Sweetwater. They design for Moda. I love everything that they do. Their newest Halloween line released last month and I of course just had to make something.
I made the center of this quilt back at the end of April. The middle is made from a layer cake; but I had to wait for yardage to release so that I could do my borders and binding.
This is my first completed Halloween quilt and I LOVE the way it turned out. I am currently working on 2 more Halloween quilts. I love Halloween. Actually I love all holidays. I think its fun to decorate the house and the kiddos love it too.
The pattern I used for this quilt is California Dreaming by Little Louise. As you can see the pattern doesn’t call for borders but I added it to make it a little bigger. The pattern also only tells you to use 36 squares from your layer cake making the quilt 6 blocks by 6 block. I didn’t want to waste any of my cake so I cut all my squares up and added a row. So mine is 6 blocks by 7 blocks. Which also helped to make it a little bigger.
My mom has this little water wheel in her neighborhood. Its kind of worn down and I thought it was kind of spooky looking. I thought it would be the perfect place to take pictures of my Halloween quilt. This was not the most well thought out plan. You see the rocks were pretty loose and it was no picnic trying to climb up there. Especially when you add in that I am 28 weeks preggo. lol And then when I got home only one picture I took was on my camera. My batteries had died and I guess the other pics didn’t save. GRRRR!!!!
Hope you enjoy!!
You can get the fabric for the front, binding and the pattern at Fat Quarter Shop. The back is piece I had in my stash.
