I was at The Cotton Shop the other day just wandering around. (Wandering around quilt shops is what I do for fun. Plus they have AC.) When I saw these awesome stacks of 5″ flannel squares. Right away my brain start coming up with all these awesome ideas of what I could do with these 5″ squares. So I picked one up and started looking over it. 168 squares for $9.99!!! Are you serious?!?! I was so excited.
They make a lot of precut and hemstitched items and these are the scraps from those projects. They just cut them into five inch squares.
If you lay them out and do a simple one patch you can get a lap size quilt. A quilt top for 10 bucks!!! Sign me up.
But I didn’t want to do just a simple one patch. Because apparently I am an over achiever. So I also got 4 yards of hot pink flannel.
The first quilt I made is this amazingly cute pinwheel cute. I have wanted to make a pinwheel quilt for a while and this seemed like the perfect occasion.
All I did was cut out about 80 5″ squares of the hot pink and then I made 160 half square triangles. It was rather simple but I will be writing up a tutorial on it in a few weeks.
I love how this quilt top turned out and I can’t wait to get it to the quilter.
The second one I made is this also amazingly cute chevron quilt. Some of you may know, others may not, but I am a little obsessed with chevron. I just love it and I can’t get enough.
I also just made half square triangles. The only difference was how I laid it out. Also very simple and a gain a tutorial will be coming soon along with pictures of it when I get it back from the quilter.
I haven’t decided yet if I should add borders to this one or not. I don’t want to do pink like I did on the other. I guess I need to go wander around The Cotton Shop and decide. Lol.
Well onto our giveaway. Since I go to The Cotton Shop all the time we decided to give one of my awesome readers one of the 5″ flannel stacks. Just fill in the Rafflecopter below and leave a comment telling me what you would make with your squares. I came up with even more ideas. Disappearing 9 patches, rag quilts, bags. multiple baby blankets from one stack. There is no end to the possibilities. I think I need more.
