The other day I had the chance to attend a sewing retreat put on by The Cotton Shop. I love attending classes and retreats that The Cotton Shop does. I learned so much there and had an absolute blast. Since I have so information that I learned that I want to share with I am going to split it up into parts. This first part is going to be all about the machine and its wonderfulness and the second part will be about the class and what I made.
First I will start with a little bit of info about the machine itself. The Ellisimo is not just a sewing machine. It does embroidery, quilting, decorative stitches as well as regular sewing.
The stitches on this machine are so nice and smooth. And the machine is very quite. With the extension table on you have a huge sewing space. This is especially nice when quilting It helps keep the bulk off the quilt up and off the floor so its not pulling the quilt down while you are trying to stitch.
One of my favorite things about this machine is the pivot function. When enabled every time you stop sewing the machine puts the needle in the down position and raises the pressure foot a little. This is great when sewing on bindings or doing straight line quilting. But another reason I love this function is because it is awesome when piecing.
I change sew my blocks together when ever possible and this pivot function is perfect. At the end of each block I take my foot off the pedal and the foot goes up allowing me to place my next block at the ready.
The embroidery side of this machine is pretty awesome too. It has a camera that scans your fabric once its in the hoop then shows you on your screen exactly where your design will end up on the fabric. No worries if it doesn’t line up. Using the arrows you can move it up down, left or right. You can also move it on the angles too, so when hooping it you don’t need to have your fabric perfectly straight.
|This is project that one of the ladies attending
the retreat made on her Ellisimo. AMAZING!!
If you want to find out more info about the Ellisimo go here. I barely touched the surface on how amazing this machine is. I am actually going to be getting one myself. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I will be getting mine from The Cotton Shop. The staff there is very knowledegable and can answer any and all questions about this machine. Plus they offer a free class when you purchase from them. And as a bonus the staff there is super awesome and nice!!!
