One of the reasons I was so excited to have a girl was to make clothes for her. And Easter was the perfect time. When I was a little girl my mom made me an Easter dress every year and I was thrilled to be able to carry on the tradition.
I might have been a little too excited. I made 2 dresses. I used the same pattern for both of the dresses. Its called the Party Dress by Cottage Momma. The best part about this pattern is that it is FREE!!! And you can find it here.
The first one I made was her actual Easter dress. And I love how it turned out. I think the colors are perfect for Easter. The pattern was super easy to follow and only took a few short hours to make. On this one I used a zipper instead of buttons. I cut the skirt an 8.5″ wide inside of 9.5″ by accident so I made the bottom band an inch wider.
This second one I made on a whim and had her wear it to the Easter Egg Hunts on Saturday. Sadly it was such a crazy day I forgot to take pictures of her in it. So sorry the pics aren’t very good. I used the scraps from the Olive Ann dress I had made with Batman fabric .Now because I was using scraps on this one I didn’t have enough fabric to make the skirt as full as it should have been. It should have been 36″ long but I shortened by 6″ on both the front and back skirt pieces. I also used a zipper on this one instead of buttons.
I love how both these dresses turned out and can’t wait to make more!
