I have been talking a lot lately (mostly on instagram @choochooskadoo) about #projectlife and I have been getting a lot of questions about what exactly Project Life is and how to get started. Let first start by telling you guys why I love Project Life. Its simple. That’s why. Its so simple and easy.
As a busy, busy mom of 3 amazing kids its hard to find time to do all the stuff I want to do. Over the years one of the things I seem to have run out of time for was scrapbooking. All my pictures are on my computer or phone but not in books. Growing up I loved to look in the family photo albums; my kids look in my phone. Sign of the times I guess. But I wanted to do something more. Cue Project life.
Project Life sheet protectors are made with slots that your 4″x6″ pictures will slide right into. They also have slots for journaling cards. It takes the mess of scissors, glue and whatnot out of scarpbooking. It literally takes my minutes to do a page. I did 2 months (February and March 2014) in 1 hour.
To get started on your Project life albums you need just a couple things. An album, a core kit, page pictures and your pictures. With the albums they have 2 different sizes; 12×12 or 6×8. Either one is great. I did a 12×12 for my family book and am doing a 6×8 book for Haileys first year.
A core kit is the basic journaling cards that you need to complete an entire album. With my first book (2014-almost done) I used the Cherry core kit. You can also get themed cards for special occasions. For example I got a vacation set for the pictures from our trip to Washington. You can also get holiday cards. For my 2015 book I am looking at a couple different core kits. My faves are: Coral, kiwi, and Honey.
The page protectors come in different layouts; turning your pictures horizontal or vertical and adding in new sizes.
You can find all these amazing products at beckyhiggins.com (she created Project Life. And on a personal note she is the nicest person you will ever meet. I met her a few days after the passing of my cousin. She was surrounded by so many people but took the time to talk to me and listen to me as I literally cried on her shoulder) You can also find Project Life at Hobby Lobby, Joann’s and Michaels.
I hope you all join me in 2015 with Project Life. Lets get our memories out of cameras and into books. Another reason that I LOVE project life is that my kids even get to help me with this. I don’t have to worry about them making a mess cause it is just sliding a picture in a slot. And they love it. They also love showing the books to people that come to our house. Kids are so cute.
