Can you believe how far we are getting on this quilt? Are you loving it as much as I am? Don’t forget if you have any questions you can email me anytime!
We are adding the bottom 2 fabrics from the picture above. The red is fabric 5 and the grey is fabric 6.
Block 5 is a pretty straight forward block. As a reminder when using your ruler to cut your triangles out you want to have the flat top side of the ruler line up with the edge of your fabric strip as pictured below.
You have a lot of triangles to cut out in this block so it’s very important that you cut them out this way.
When sewing your triangles together that go around the edge of the block you want them to overlap about a 1/4″. There is a little illustration on the bottom of your pattern page that explains this.
This is a very simple block. It’s all half square and quarter square triangles. If you have forgotten how to make these look the “Bits & Pieces Basics” page at the beginning of your pattern.
If your seams are not quite 1/4″ I would recommend cutting your squares 1/2″ bigger.
The pattern tells you to only cut ONE background square you need TWO. Save the extra halves for later on in the quilt. Thanks! And have fun.
