I love to change up a room. But buying new furniture every couple months would put a HUGE dent in the checking account every month. So instead I like to change little things around the room. Even Little changes can completely change the look of a room.
I decided that I wanted to add some happy color to our living room and brighten it up a bit. I love the look of the Lattice Home dec fabrics that Patty Young designed. I picked the grey and marigold to help lighten up the look of my room.
I just love how the valances turned out above my windows. I have 2 windows that look out of the front of my house. I like to make valances cause they take a small amount of fabric but make a BIG impact. I used the tutorial I wrote on Cutting Corners blog to make my valances. I did cut them a little different since that fabric is 60″ wide as opposed to quilting cottons being 45″ wide. My windows are about 35″ wide and I cut my fabric 18″x WOF (60″) and I cut 2 of those. Every thing else is the same as in my original tutorial.
I decided to make some fresh new pillow covers as well to lighten up the room even more. I love the feel of the home decor fabric. I need a little heavier weight fabric for my living room pillows cause I have boys and lets face it boys are rough and tough on things. lol.
I love the new bright and fresh look of my living room. Now I just need to paint that ugly brown wall in the back ground.
