I am so excited to share my block this week for the Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along hosted by Fat Quarter shop. I love my Farm Girl Vintage book by Lori Holt. It is full of some amazing blocks that you will want to make over and over.
Today I am sharing the Simple Star block. This was such a fun block to make. With Lori’s easy step by step instructions these blocks come together in no time.
I decided that I wanted to try out both the 6″ and 12″ option for the block so I created this cute pillow pattern.
Each pillow consists of 5 of the 6″ blocks and 1 of the 12″ block. I used the Postcards For Santa collection by Riley Blake to make my pillows. If you want to make this pillow you will need: (fabric requirements will make 2 pillows)
1 yard backing.
1/2 yard binding
1/2 yard background
1/4 yard center square
1/4 yard red and green star points (I used scraps to make my points. My big blocks are the same fabric and my little stars I used 6 different fabrics.)
I did simple cross hatching on my personal machine for the quilting.
Follow this instructions in The Farm Girl Vintage book and you’ll have cute pillows in no time. I think this would also be super cute to make Halloween pillows. The possibilities are endless with what you can with the blocks in this book. I love that every block comes in 6″ and 12″ size.
