Earlier this year me and the hubs decided that it was time to stop renting and to buy our first home. Scary! There are a couple of things that we want to accomplish before we start out on this adventure. We want to up our emergency fund and pay our car off.
A couple of years ago the hubs grandparents gave us the Dave Ramsey books for Christmas. I am not going to lie; I was rather offended that they gave us the books. Who are they to tell us our to spend our money?!? But they told us if we read the book we would each get some money. Instantly I thought fabric cash. (LOL) so I read the book. And I am glad I did. LIFE CHANGING!! Using Dave’s system we got out of debt. I mean we had nothing. And it felt so nice.
But then things start happening and we fell off the wagon. Our car broke down so we financed a new one (biggest mistake ever!!) and we weren’t saving like we had been so we ended up putting some of James school tuition and books on credit. It’s so hard to have this debt cause I keep thinking of the 3 years when we had no debt and the freedom we felt. But we are going to get back on track! We want to buy a home and put our roots down. But we also want me to stay home with the kids. So we need to stick to a budget. I’m going to start reading Dave’s book again and attending his Financial Peace University.
In class Dave will teach us the baby steps to saving money and getting out of debt. Check out this preview of the class. I am so excited to attend this 9 week course! Zions bank has put together a list of all the classes in the Utah and Idaho area. Your first class “Super Saving” is FREE. So come out to that and see how easy this system is and then sign up to continue the 9 week course. Once you enroll you have a lifetime membership for your entire household! (19 years and younger) Class attendees receive a comprehensive workbook, an envelope system for organizing cash, an audio CD set of all the lessons and access to additional online lessons and tools. Think about this is you are still not sure about coming out: “After participating in the program, the average household reports paying off $5,300 in debt and adding $2,700 in savings within three months.” That’s crazy awesome!!!! Hope to see you all there!
