I’m seriously loving owning my own home. I love putting my stamp of style on my space. I’m loving the process of turning this house into a home. It’s a long process for sure but that is ok. I feel like I have a million projects going on at once. Which sometimes results in my house being in chaos… But the creative element of decorating my home is helping me with life.
I discovered the cutest store, Rod Works, to help me achieve the feel I want in my home. I am going for a vintage farm house feel. I love the soft lines and gentle color schemes of farm houses and even though I live in suburbia I am trying to cultivate that feeling in my home. I have been concentrating on the kitchen lately.
I hung some simple damask floor length yellow curtains on my sliding glass door. I love the look of these. I painted one wall this same yellow color and I love it. I had just my calendars and cork board on the wall but I didn’t love it. When I went to Rod Works I was not sure what I was looking for but I knew I wanted something to make this wall more functional and cute.
The sales lady was so helpful. I told her the look I was going for and she showed me so many different options. When she showed me this shelf it was love at first sight.
I wanted to hang it as soon as I got home but it took me a week to find our stud finder. One of the many joys of children. They like to play with daddies tools. Once we got it hung I went to styling it. I stacked my cookbooks on it to free up a drawer; which helped me clear some stuff off my counters. the mason jars have a couple dry erase markers in them so they are easy to find when writing on my calendars. I am seriously in love with this shelf. I get so many compliments on it.
I also picked up this adorable recipe book holder. I have been looking for one since Christmas and I couldn’t find one that I LOVED. This one I love. I can’t wait to go back to Rod Works. The next room I am going to do is going to be Hailey’s and I already have so many ideas.
I am thinking my next purchase from Rod Works is going to be a chandelier for my kitchen and a giant clock. I love their selection of clocks.
