It usually surprises people when I tell them that Valentine’s Day is one of my fave holidays. It’s not a huge holiday at my house. Me and the husband don’t exchange gifts and we don’t go out. We have made it a family holiday instead. We stay in, make a meal with our fave foods and then watch a movie with the kids. It’s a fun tradition and the kids love it.
Another reason that I love Valentine’s Day is because I can decorate my house! I love to decorate for holidays. It makes the house feel so happy. This year every month Alicia and I will be showing you how we decorated our mantle for that month. Except I don’t have a mantel… I have this super adorable shelf that I picked up at Rodworks. It hangs in my kitchen above my table and I love it. Usually I have decorated with black, white and gold decor. I kept the printables up because they fit in with my Valentine decor.
The first thing I made with this cute “Be Mine” bunting. I cut it out using my Cricut machine. My Cricut is a game changer when it comes to doing holiday decor. I attached it together with some gold ribbon and tape.
I took these simple mason jars and wrapped some ribbon and washi tape around them. I attached the ribbon using hot glue. I love how the jars came together. I stuck with black and gold cause it will fit the theme of my “mantel” even after Valentines day is over. These also make great center pieces at showers and parties.
Whenever people ask me about my decor they are always surprised when I tell them that a lot of it comes from the Dollar Spot at Target. I love all the cute valentine decor that they had this year. Every time I go to Target I pick up something else. I spent around $10 for everything in the above pic. And its all super cute.
I got this chalkboard easel and little jar in the Dollar Spot and then added some vinyl. See I told you the Cricut can up your decorating game.
I have this super cute giant mason jar that my kids got me for Christmas a couple of years ago. This years I filled it with mini hearts that I picked up from Micheals. I also filled up a little vase that I found in my cupboard. I love the way the jars turned out. The little cloth hearts with the sayings are my fave. I picked them up at Michaels too.
