I am pretty stoked to be sharing this quilt tutorial with you today. This is a really easy pattern. Perfect for a beginner quilt. Or an expert who just needs a fast project. I made this quilt from cut to finish (not quilted) in a day. I am using this cute Prim and Proper collection by Lindsay Wilkes (aka The Cottage Mama) and it is so adorable.
What you’ll need: (finish quilt size is 50″ x 60″)
Inner rectangle-1/6 yard of 3 prints
Outer rectangle 3/4 yard of 3 prints
background- 1 1/2 yards
Binding- 3/4 yard
backing- 4 yards
Let’s get started! First thing we need to do is cut our fabric. From the center fabric you will need to cut 9 strips 2.5″x4.5″ (9 from each print so a total of 27). From the outer rectangle fabric you will need to cut 18 strips 2.5″x6.5″ and 18 strips at 2.5″x12.5″ (18 from each print so a total of 54). From the background you will need to get 54 strips 2.5″x4.5″ and 54 strips at 2.5″x6.5″.
Now for the FUN part; let’s sew! You will sew a 2.5″x4.5″ background strip to each long side of your center rectangle. Press flat. Then sew a 2.5″x6.5″ strip to the 2 remaining sides. Repeat with all your blocks; you should have 27 blocks.Next you will sew a 2.5″x6.5″ stripof the outer rectangle fabric to the short sides of the block you made in the last step. Press flat. Then take you 2.5″x12.5″ outer rectangle fabric to the 2 remaining sides of the block and press flat. Square up your blocks. They should measure 12.5″x10.5″.
Quilt, bind and LOVE it! This is a quilt gift to give a way. Perfect size for relaxing on the couch during the fall months. Hope you enjoy!
