Deseret Book gave me a great opportunity to review Elder Bednar’s newest book, One By One. Let me give you an overview about it.
In this book, Elder David A. Bednar offers a compelling look at a pattern the Lord uses to bless His people: He works with us on an individual basis, one by one. Demonstrating that pattern as it occurs throughout the scriptures, in the lives of many Church leaders, and in his own ministry, Elder Bednar invites us to open our hearts to the Lord’s love. He also teaches that by ministering as the Savior does, one by one, we can be more powerful instruments in His hands to accomplish His purposes.
From a “guided tour” through scriptural illustration to an array of touching personal accounts, this important new book offers hope and guidance for anyone who has ever wondered, “Do I matter to the Lord?”
Here is what I got from the book. As I began to read the book I got a little overwhelmed on the scriptural references from the bible. As convert I struggle with the verbage of scriptures, and to have it come from the Bible was a little tough. So I kind of skimmed those stories. But once we got into more of the Latter Day Saints, and current references I was hooked.
I love how Elder Bednar uses stories and it all comes to our Heavenly Father seeing us one by one. He did use the phrase,”the worth of souls is great in the sight of God ” I can count at least 20 times that phrase was used. Which is wonderful reassurance. Our makes you think about our lives and question if we are are doing or saviors work as he would? One By One. If you have the chance, get the book and be inspired to serve our fellow man. It definitely has changed how I will now serve.
